Modified fragment of human growth hormone (HGH 176-191) studied for fat metabolism without affecting blood sugar or growth.
Mechanism
AOD-9604 corresponds to the C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (hGH 177-191) with an additional tyrosine residue at position 177. Research suggests it mimics the lipolytic action of hGH by stimulating beta-3 adrenergic receptors on adipocytes and enhancing fat oxidation, while lacking the IGF-1-stimulating and hyperglycemic effects of full-length growth hormone. In vitro and animal studies have shown it promotes lipolysis and inhibits lipogenesis in adipose tissue without affecting carbohydrate metabolism or promoting longitudinal bone growth.
What the literature has looked at
- Studies have investigated its lipolytic activity in adipose tissue models
- Research has examined fat oxidation pathways without IGF-1 elevation
- Studies have explored its effects on body composition parameters in preclinical models
- Studies have assessed cartilage repair and regenerative potential
